Overview

UNBLISS is a 90-second Nollywood-style psychological thriller produced entirely through an AI-native cinematic pipeline by DFRENZY VISUALS, a full-service AI filmmaking studio based in Lagos and Uyo, Nigeria. The short film follows a bride whose wedding night is interrupted by an intruder, a compact, tension-driven narrative built to demonstrate that AI-generated film can carry genuine suspense, not just visual spectacle. The project served as a proof of concept for a repeatable AI production workflow, one that could take a short-form thriller concept from script to finished, color-graded film without a traditional camera crew, cast, or set.

Production Pipeline

UNBLISS was built using a 14-shot image-to-video production package generated with Grok AI, following a structured character-consistency methodology developed in-house at DFRENZY VISUALS. Each shot was anchored through reference images to preserve continuity of the lead character's appearance, wardrobe, and performance across every scene, a discipline borrowed from traditional filmmaking's continuity department and adapted for AI generation. The workflow included:

• Character consistency locking through reference image tagging to prevent identity drift across shots
• Start-frame-first generation where each shot's opening frame was generated and approved before being used as the animation anchor
• Structured clause-based prompting for reliable shot-to-shot generation
• A full post-production pass with color grading in DaVinci Resolve following a dedicated color-grade bible built for the project's psychological-thriller tone

Why It Matters

UNBLISS demonstrates a production discipline that's still rare in AI filmmaking, treating AI video generation as one stage in a full cinematic pipeline rather than the entire pipeline. The project moved through pre-production, production, and post-production the same way a traditionally shot film would, adapted for an AI-native workflow. The result is a short film built to be judged as a film first, and an AI experiment second.
